Lake Merritt Trailhead

Did I mention our van must be part mountain goat?  After a very rough climb to the Merritt Lake Trailhead we were rewarded with a spectacular view and another free campsite.  No kidding when I say this road up is for vehicles with above average clearance it’s no exaggeration.   Video of road   I didn’t think you would want to watch the entire 20-25 minute drive. Always take your time and plot a course that looks passable, avoid crossing running water and try to take obstacles with your wheels straight to avoid damage.  But, you get the picture.  IMG_20170705_172440While I’ve been sitting here typing this there have been about four sets of hikers make it in here in SUV type vehicles.    Don’t think this is listed on any of the more popular web sites hosting free camping.  So, here are the coordinates so you can find it.   47.79102  -120.88430PANO_20170705_172324So there you have it another really nice place to stay.

A thanks to T.J. Brown for the background music.  T.J. Brown is one of the featured artists in the “Road Noise” section of the blog.

And a special thanks to my navigator who did wait until I could start this adventure called life.
